Established in 1990, L’Oréal Professionnel Portfolio is an exclusive group of top British hair Designers (top 50 in the UK) who have been recognised for their creativity and expertise in the field of professional hairdressing. Renowned for outstanding technical skills, as well as their artistic flair, as part of the portfolio fowler35 and other members have a common goal: to consistently raise the profile of the British hairdressing industry.
As a keen competitor in national and international events, our cutting, colouring and styling skills of our acknowledged experts inspire hairdressers world-wide. Our stage work is complemented with style shots and profiles in magazines and we are among journalist’s first point of call when searching for advice on new products or hair care. Recognised by the industry, we also appear on radio and television in a variety of shows, especially those relating to fashion, beauty and the salon industry.
L’Oréal Professionnel works closely with the fashion industry to keep hair colour and styling inspirational and at the forefront of emerging beauty trends, and we work closely with L’Oréal Professionnel Portfolio backstage at London Fashion Week, On|Off, Fashion Fringe, the Fashion in Motion shows at the V&A Museum, Central Saint Martin’s MA & BA Graduate Shows and Graduate Fashion Week.
As an Established Portfolio member, we also play a key role in passing on knowledge to the next generation both in the UK and around the world. Darren Fowler also teaches specialised classes at the L’Oréal International Academies in London and Manchester, regarded as centres of excellence for hairdressing education. Courses are also held at numerous regional venues around the country. Students and qualified stylists come from the UK and abroad to learn new techniques and to be inspired by Darren Fowler and the team at fowler35 London Hair Salon.
In 1998, L’Oréal Professionnel introduced the first-ever Colour Specialist which is an advanced technical qualification in professional hair colouring. The course teaches advanced colour technicians all they need to know to create perfect colour every time, and also the skills needed for colour correction work. L’Oréal Professionnel Portfolio salons have a Colour Specialist graduates managing their colour teams.
